HHS girls dominate Life Prep in first game

By JAYCEE DALE

The Hays High School girls’ basketball team started its season with new head coach Kyle Porter on Thursday night at the Hays City Shootout.

The Indians gave their new coach something to smile about by dominating Life Prep Academy, 55-7.

The Hays High press against the Life Prep offense was the story of the first half. Going hard the first two quarters, the Indians went into the locker room with a 39-7 lead.

After half, the Indians came out and held Life Prep to a scoreless third quarter. Life Prep struggled to find an offense that could beat the HHS defense.

Life Prep failed to score the entire second half of the game

The Indians’ dominating victory puts them in Friday’s 6:30 p.m. semifinal against Olathe West at the HHS gym. The winner of that game will play in Saturday night’s championship.
