FHSU SPORTS INFORMATION DEPARTMENT

Fort Hays State Men’s Basketball looks to build on two straight wins Saturday (Dec. 10) when it hosts long-time rival Emporia State at Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays. The Tigers enter at 6-3 overall and 2-1 in the MIAA, while Emporia State is 3-6 overall and 0-1 in the MIAA. Game time is set for 4 pm.

Fort Hays State is coming off a big win over Washburn on Wednesday night. The Tigers handed the Ichabods their first loss of the season, coming back from a 20-point deficit early in the game for the win. FHSU met Emporia State just once last year, a game the Hornets won in Hays to snap an eight-game losing skid to the Tigers. It was the first win for ESU in Hays since the 2006-07 season.

Emporia State is coming off a loss at Nebraska-Kearney on Thursday evening. The Hornets have suffered a lot of close losses this year. Four of their six losses were by four points or less. Brian Morton and Brandon Hall are each leading the team in scoring at 14 points per game.

Rob Davis continues to lead the Tigers, averaging 22.4 points per game. Hadley Gillum recorded his second double-double of the season against Washburn and averages 14.4 points per game. JaQuan Smith leads the Tigers in rebounding at 7.9 per game, while Kyler Kinnamon averages a team-best 3.0 assists per game. Trey O’Neil is coming off a career-high 18-point performance against Washburn.
