FHSU SPORTS INFORMATION DEPARTMENT

HAYS, Kan. – Fort Hays State University head men’s golf coach Seth Kincaid has announced the signing of two student-athletes in advance of the 2016-17 season. Joining the Tigers will be freshman Colton Bobek and sophomore Jordan Anderson.

“I’m excited about our team moving forward with these two guys in place,” said Kincaid. “Both Colton and Jordan are very talented golfers, tee to green. It’s going to be a lot of fun to see their game develop this year. We were already going to be competitive in the MIAA, but these additions could bring us to another level.”

Bobek, a sophomore at FHSU, has the potential to jump in and compete right away for the Tigers. Anderson, on the other hand, will redshirt this season after transferrring from Missouri Western State.

Bobek is a native of Plainville, Kan., where he competed in the Kansas State Tournament three times for Plainville HS. He won six tournaments as a senior in high school and seven in his career, also representing the western region in the KJGA Championships. Off the course, Bobek was a member of the National Honor Society in high school and participates in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars at FHSU.

Anderson finished in the top five at four events as a senior at Andale (Kan.) HS before competing for one season at Missouri Western State, where he competed in three events as a Griffon. The Andale, Kan. native won six events in his high school career, including a pair of Kansas 4A regional titles.

The Tigers look to open the season next week when they travel to Axtell, Neb. to compete in the UNK Invitational (Sept. 12-13).
