Head Coach Chris Brown To Be Inducted in MIAA Hall of Fame Tonight

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State head football coach Chris Brown will be inducted into the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Hall of Fame tonight in Kansas City. The ceremony will be held at 6:45 pm in the Truman Forum Auditorium at the Kansas City Public Library – Plaza Branch.

Coach Brown will be going into the Hall of Fame for his illustrious playing career at Pittsburg State from 1992-95. Brown earned All-American honors three times between 1993 and 1995, earning consensus first-team honors as a senior in 1995. He was a three-time All-MIAA First Team selection and was the MIAA Defensive Player of the Year during the 1995 season. He finished his career holding the school record in tackles. He also established a Division II National Championship Game record with 21 tackles in the 1992 game. Brown recorded 470 tackles in 43 starts during his career at free safety. He was named the CNN Division II National Player of the Year in 1995. He was also named to the NCAA Quarter Century Team for all players from 1975 to 1999 at free safety. Brown was inducted into the Pittsburg State Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006.

The MIAA Awards Celebration also includes the Ken B. Jones Award (MIAA Male and Female Student-Athletes of the Year). Fort Hays State junior wrestler Jon Inman is one of three finalists for the award and will also be present at the celebration. Last year, Kate Lehman (women’s basketball) became the first Fort Hays State student-athlete to win the Ken B. Jones Award.
