FHSU won two of three doubles matches, then swept all singles matches in straight sets for its first win in the spring after going 5-2 in the fall.
In doubles action, Camille Caron-Bedard and Reinette Strydom teamed at the No. 1 position for a shuout win over Shelton and Harlow, 8-0. At No. 3, Jessica Johnson and Raven Dick topped Christy and Mitchell for an 8-2 win. The No. 2 team of Michelle Miller and Katie Hipp fell by a score of 8-5 to Obermeier and Fortunato.
In the No. 1 through No. 3 positions in singles, FHSU allowed only four points to their opponents. At No. 1, Caron-Bedard won 6-1, 6-1 over Fortunato. Miller blanked Harlow at No. 2, 6-0, 6-0. At No. 3, Strydom defeated Shelton 6-1, 6-1. Raven Dick also dominated in her match at No. 6, 6-1, 6-0 over Schmitz. Hipp had to work for her win at No. 4, defeating Christy 7-5, 6-3. Johnson was consistent in a 6-2, 6-2 win over Obermeier at No. 5.
FHSU is scheduled to take on McPherson College on Wednesday in Hays at 3 p.m. before jumping back into MIAA play on the weekend.
