The Heartland Community Foundation is hosting Give Fest on Thursday. With this Community Giving Day, the Foundation is “bringing philanthropy, community spirit, and Oktoberfest-themed fun to Ellis, Rooks, and Trego counties.”

In all three of these counties, every fifth grader is given $10 to donate to a local nonprofit of their choice. In Hays, Plainville, and WaKeeney the students will visit the Give Fest events and learn more about charitable giving and community support. This opportunity is made possible by Insurance Planning, Inc. in Ellis County, and Solutions North Bank in Rooks and Trego County.

“We believe in the importance of starting early when it comes to charitable giving,” said Andrew Rupp at Insurance Planning Inc.

Both sponsors of the event believe in the importance of educating the youth. Allowing these fifth-grade students the opportunity to learn more about charitable giving, as well as its importance and impact, gives them a great understanding of how they can be a vital part of their community in the future.

Throughout the week, representatives of Heartland Community Foundation plan to visit local schools to talk to students about the importance of giving back. They will introduce what nonprofits are, and why supporting them matters. They hope to make an impact on the youth that will continue in the future.

There are 44 participating organizations of a wide variety that are accepting donations during Give Fest. Heartland Community Foundations plans to match each donation given during the 24-hour giving period. Each donation goes directly to the nonprofit organizations.

In Ellis County, the location for giving is The Strand Event Center. They also began accepting online donations on Friday, and it is open until October Thursday. Online donations, can be made at www.HeartlandGiveFest.org.

Give Fest is the perfect opportunity for anyone to give back to their community. Aside from the in-person location, and online donations, there are many more ways to donate. More information on Give Fest can be found at www.HeartlandGiveFest.org
