BSU puts on Black History Month Movie Night

On Thursday, February 13th. Black History Month Movie Night was held at 2R McMindes Hall. During the movie, the participants enjoyed the time they shared with others. In the United States, February is Black History Month, a time when observances pay tribute to people and events that shaped the history of African Americans.

Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by Black Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of black individuals in U.S. History. The event grew out of “Negro History Week,” the brainchild of prominent black historian Carter G. Woodson and other prominent African Americans. Since 1976, Every U.S. President has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Other countries around the world, from Canada and the United Kingdom, Also devote a month to celebrating black history.

FHSU student and attendee of the event Elijah Johnson said, “I think it was just a fun time to kind of hang out with other members of BSU and just is a very relaxing start to the semester.”
