Men’s basketball seeks 6th straight win

Fort Hays State Men’s Basketball looks for a sixth straight win on Saturday (Feb. 15) in Jefferson City, Missouri when it takes on Lincoln University. Game time is 3 pm. The Tigers are looking to pull into a tie for eighth in the MIAA standings with Lincoln. FHSU enters at 12-11 overall and 5-9 in the MIAA, while Lincoln is 9-14 overall and 6-8 in the MIAA.

Lincoln has won two straight at home, defeating Emporia State back on February 1 and then Nebraska-Kearney on February 13. Lincoln is 5-3 in MIAA home contests so far this season, but just 1-5 away from home in conference play. Jonell Burton leads the Lincoln scoring attack at 14.8 points per game. Lincoln owns the lowest 3-point field goal and free-throw shooting percentages in the MIAA.

Fort Hays State is looking to snap a two-game losing skid inside Jason Gym in Jefferson City. Lincoln defeated the Tigers on its home turf during the 2017-18 and 2015-16 seasons. The last win for FHSU in Jefferson City occurred during the 2014-15 season. FHSU defeated Central Missouri on Thursday night in Warrensburg for its first conference road win of the season.

Perry Carroll, Calvin Harrington, Jared Vitztum, and Jake Hutchings all led the Tigers in scoring on Thursday night at Central Missouri, each with 11 points. Vitztum continues to lead the Tigers in scoring at 13.6 points per game. Devin Davis, Aaron Nicholson, Nyjee Wright, and Hutchings all average at least nine points per game.
