Valentine’s Day in Hays, America

Valentine’s Day occurs every year on February 14. Many people celebrate their different cultures and traditions on this day. All around the world candies, love notes, and other gifts are exchanged between loved ones and friends. 

From giving flowers and chocolates in the U.S. to sending anonymous love notes in Denmark, there are many different traditions and events that countries celebrate. All of these traditions come from a mystery saint, St. Valentine. There are many stories about St. Valentine from him falling for his jailor’s daughter, to the church’s attempt to “Christianize” the pagan celebration of Lupercalia. Whether these stories are true or not there are still millions of people who celebrate Valentine’s Day. 

Several of the local restaurants here in Hays are hosting a Valentine’s Day dinner, including the Paisley Pear and The Press. The Niche is having a Canvas Painting Class for couples and the Hays Symphony is having a free Valentine’s Day Concert. 

The North Oak Community Church is hosting a Valentine’s Day Banquet and providing childcare, so you and your significant other can enjoy a date night. The Hays Community Theatre is also hosting a Murder Mystery Dinner Show. 

There are many opportunities to go out and have a good time with your significant other and even your friends right here in Hays. Get your tickets and reservations made and have a great night full of fun and love!
