Agudelo, Villalba, Bevis earn regional honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – United Soccer Coaches announced its 2019 all-region teams for men’s soccer on Monday (Dec. 9). Santiago Agudelo, Serbio Villalba, and Alec Bevis of Fort Hays State are selections on the All-Central Region Team. The trio helped FHSU to a 13-6-2 overall record, claiming the GAC regular season championship and a spot in the NCAA Tournament for an eighth-straight season.

Agudelo earns all-region honors from United Soccer Coaches for a second-straight year. He finished the season with a team-best 39 points, compiling 16 goals and seven assists. The D2CCA named Agudelo the Central Region Player of the Year for a second-straight year. He received GAC Offensive Player of the Year honors this season on the heels of MIAA Player of the Year honors in 2018. He was also the D2CCA National Player of the Year in 2018 when he led the nation in scoring with 58 points (26 goals, 6 assists). In two seasons at FHSU, Agudelo had 97 points (42 goals, 13 assists) and now owns school records for career goals and points.

Villalba earns all-region honors from United Soccer Coaches for the first time in his career, though he is a two-time all-region selection from the D2CCA. Villalba earned GAC Defender of the Year honors this season. Villalba was a three-time all-conference recipient throughout his Tiger career. Villalba appeared in 80 matches throughout his career at FHSU playing 6,412 minutes, accmumulating 32 points (13 goals, 6 assists).

Bevis earned all-region honors by both the D2CCA and United Soccer Coaches in his first year on the field for the Tigers. He was also the GAC Freshman of the Year. Bevis has four points this season with a goal and two assists, while leading the team in minutes played with 1,782. He played entire matches in 17 of 21 contests so far this year.
