Baseball hosts Lindenwood for conference series

The Fort Hays State baseball team will open its first home conference series of the season a day late this weekend when the Tigers host Lindenwood beginning Saturday, March 30. First pitch from Larks Park it set for 1 p.m. each day, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

The Tigers (3-21, 2-13 MIAA) are coming off their first home victory of the season after knocking off Northwestern Oklahoma State in Hays on Wednesday, 8-4. FHSU is 1-3 at home this season while Lindenwood (14-15, 8-7 MIAA) are 5-9 in road games this year. The Lions are 3-3 in road conference games this season.

It will be the final conference series between the Tigers and Lions, with Lindenwood transitioning to the GLVC starting next season. The Tigers are 5-11 all-time against Lindenwood, including a 3-4 mark inside Larks Park. The Lions have won seven straight in the series, with the last FHSU victory coming in 2016.

Ryan Grasser leads the team with 17 RBI while ranking second with 11 runs scored. Landon Erway paces the Tigers with 26 hits and 12 runs scored while ranking second in the MIAA with two triples on the year.

Lindenwood bats .283 as a team, ranking third in the MIAA. The Lion pitching staff sits in eighth in the league with a 4.88 ERA. Mitchell Krebs ranks sixth in the MIAA with a .475 batting average while go-to reliever Eric Hipp sports the best ERA in the league at 1.34.
