Department of Criminal Justice receives NRA grant

Fort Hays State University’s Department of Criminal Justice and the Criminal Justice Club has received a $2,368 grant from the NRA Foundation for firearm education.
The grant will purchase equipment to train criminal justice students in the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to engage in firearm safety.
“Students will have the opportunity to enroll in a criminal justice firearms course, which will be valuable for those students who plan to enter careers that require a firearms qualification,” said Dr. John Raacke, chair of the Department of Criminal Justice.
The grant will also benefit members of the Delta Tau Omega chapter of the American Criminal Justice Association. Students will now have the opportunity to compete in firearms during regional and national conferences.
“We would like to thank Friends of the NRA for raising the funds and the NRA Foundation for awarding the grant,” said Dr. Tamara Lynn, assistant professor of criminal justice and advisor for the Criminal Justice Club.
