PITTSBURG — Pittsburg State University announced that Amanda Davied will become the women’s basketball head coach.

Davied will replace coach Lane Lord, who accepted the head coaching position at NCAA Division I University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Lord led the PSU women to five NCAA tournaments and one conference championship.

Davied has been a member of the Gorilla coaching staff for the past 14 years. During her time on staff, Pitt State has a 283-160 overall record. Pitt State has made five trips to the NCAA Division II national tournament during that period, including two trips to the Elite Eight.

Last season, the Gorillas won the MIAA regular season title.

Before beginning her coaching career Davied was a star player for the Gorillas. Davied finished her career as Pitt State’s ninth-leading all-time scorer and set the career record for assists and free-throw percentage.

Davied started as a assistant under former head coach Steve High in 2004.
