ICYMI: Tiger Wrestling Stomps Newman 39-4 on Senior Night

On Wednesday, February 7, the Fort Hays State University Tiger wrestling squad finished out the regular season on Senior Night from Gross Memorial Coliseum against the Newman Jets. The Tigers dominated throughout the dual and ended with a 39-4 victory. It was the fewest points FHSU has allowed in a dual since 2/11/16 (also against Newman). Also, nine of 10 Tigers came away with a win.

133: Dy’Juan Carney defeats Vincent Eremita in a 7-2 decision

141: No. 8 Brandon Ball pins Brandon Conrad in the second period

149: Efe Osaghae defeats Mario Rodriguez with a 16-0 technical fall

157: Ryne Cokeley defeated by Tyler Mies with a 16-3 major decision

165: Marty Verhaeghe defeats Kyle Ryan in a 6-5 decision

174: *Dylan Wiesner defeats Nate Panagakis with a 12-4 major decision

184: Micah Felton defeats Forlanda Parker with a 3-1 decision

197: *Rakim Dean defeats Jacob Stoneberger with a 16-0 technical fall

285: *Dakota Gulley defeats Thor Balavage with a 12-2 major decision

Next, the Tigers will compete in the MIAA Tournament on Sunday, February 11, in Wichita. Additionally, the NCAA Regionals will be held on Friday, February 23, followed by the NCAA Championships on Friday, March 9.
