FHSU Women’s Basketball Survives Road Test with Lincoln Blue Tigers

For the eleventh time in twelve all-time meetings, the Fort Hays State University women’s basketball team defeated the Lincoln Blue Tigers. FHSU knocked down ten three-pointers on the evening to escape Jefferson City, Missouri with a 65-55 win. The victory marked the third straight triumph for Fort Hays. After Thursday, Lincoln has lost 12 straight games and has yet to win a conference contest.

On the night, FHSU shot 35.5% from the field and Lincoln was held to 32.2%. Defensively, Fort Hays forced 14 turnovers but had 15 of their own.

For the Tigers, Carly Heim led all scorers with 20 points and six rebounds. Tatyana Legette added 12 points and nine rebounds, while Taylor Rolfs had 10 points and five assists. Additionally, Belle Barbieri had 10 rebounds to tie her career high. Lanie Page and Kacey Kennett added seven rebounds each.

Bre Coleman led LU with 17 points and nine rebounds. Faith Brintle followed with eight points and eight assists. Kailey Foster and Amber Braxton each had seven points.

Looking ahead, FHSU (15-4 overall, 6-4 in MIAA) will travel to St. Charles, Missouri to take on the Lindenwood Lions (10-10, 2-9) on Saturday. Also on Saturday, Lincoln (3-16, 0-11) will host Nebraska-Kearney (15-3, 7-3) from Jefferson City, Mo. Both games are scheduled to start at 1:30 PM.
