In a lopsided game from the beginning, the University of Central Missouri was no match for Fort Hays State. FHSU was able to keep UCM on their heels defensively throughout. The Tigers used the wildcat formation to their advantage often during the first half of action.

On the first drive of the game, FHSU was able to set the tone with an eight play, 75-yard drive, which ended in a 31-yard touchdown run by Kenneth Iheme. The rest of the first half went in favor of the Tigers and they headed into halftime with a 21-3 lead.

The Fort Hays defense was also a huge factor in the first half. The Central Missouri Mules had four punts in the first half and just three points. FHSU also forced punts on the first four drives of the game.

The second half began with a field goal by UCM’s Alex Langer to cut the deficit to 21-6. Shortly after, quarterback Jacob Mezera and Layne Bieberle connected on two touchdowns and propelled the lead to 35-6. On the night, Mezera had 227 passing yards with three touchdowns. Bieberle also had a game to remember, with four receptions, 107 receiving yards, and two touchdowns.

The Tigers improved to 2-0 on the season and have outscored opponents 83-13. They plan to continue their success next Saturday, when they travel to Edmond, Oklahoma to take on Central Oklahoma. Start time is scheduled for 7 P.M.
