Craig Nicholson Signs Professional Contract with Team in Romania

HAYS, Kan. – Former Fort Hays State basketball player Craig Nicholson has signed a contract to play professional basketball in Romania. He will join CS Cuza Sport Braila, a professional club in the city of Braila, Romania, late this summer and early fall. Nicholson is a native of Wichita, Kan.

Nicholson was a four-time All-MIAA selection and a one-time All-America selection at Fort Hays State. He was also the MIAA Freshman of the Year and named to the Division II Bulletin All-Freshman Team in 2013.

Nicholson was one of the top players in program history, finishing his career with 1,449 points (sixth most in school history) and 628 assists (second most in school history and most in the school’s NCAA Division II era). He is the all-time record holder in assists per game at FHSU, finishing at 6.3 per game. He also set the school record for most free-throws made in a career with 481. His .803 career shooting percentage from the free-throw line ranks sixth in school history. He ranks second all-time in steals with 161.
