FHSU SPORTS INFORMATION DEPARTMENT

AUSTIN, Texas – Fort Hays State junior wrestler Jon Inman was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team for At-Large Sports on Wednesday (June 8). At-Large Men’s Sports include fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo, and wrestling.

Inman has a 3.85 grade point average as a Justice Studies major at Fort Hays State. He was an All-America performer this year with a staggering record of 38-4 overall, finishing fifth in the nation at 184 pounds. Inman is a two-time national qualifier and has an impressive career record of 113-24 at Fort Hays State.

Inman was one of three men’s finalists for the MIAA Ken B. Jones Award (MIAA Student-Athlete of the Year). Inman was the first male finalist for the award from Fort Hays State since Alex Whitehill (football) in 2012.

Inman’s selection gives Fort Hays State 46 CoSIDA Academic All-America selections all-time, the first dating back to 1975. He was the only Tiger to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors for the 2015-16 academic year, an honor that recognizes a combination of the nation’s elite both athletically and academically.

Though several Tiger wrestlers have been NWCA All-Academic Team selections in the program’s history (Inman has been a first-team selection three times), Inman is the first wrestler ever from Fort Hays State to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-American.
