Tigers Face Pittsburg State In Final Road Series of the Season

Fort Hays State heads to Pittsburg State on Thursday (Apr. 28) for a three game series. The Tigers and Gorillas will play one game on Thursday at 6 pm and two games on Friday (Apr. 29) beginning at 1 pm. The Tigers enter the series with an overall record of 19-25, and MIAA record of 13-20. Pittsburg State has an overall mark of 13-29 and MIAA record of 8-25.

On offense, Nick Hammeke has reached base safely in the last 27 games including a three-hit outing against Nebraska-Kearney in the Tigers’ most recent win. Joe Mapes upped his team-leading home run total to 10 with two homers in that game. Connor Ross, Alex King, and Caleb Cherryholmes also homered in the game. Austin Unrein is one homer behind Mapes with nine for the season, helping the Tigers hit 47 as a team so far.

Jacob Boylan is the main threat in the Gorilla lineup as he leads the team in batting average (.368), hits (60), and runs (46). Another bat to keep an eye is Andrew Vogelbaugh, who is the team leader in homeruns (12) and RBI (46).
