Tigers Drop From Top 25 But Still Receive Votes in NSCAA Division II Poll

FHSU Sports Information Department

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the first time this season, Fort Hays State has been listed outside of the Top 25 of the NSCAA Division II Poll, released on Tuesday (Oct. 6). The Tigers had been in the rankings for five straight polls this year, preseason through Week 4, before falling into the collection of teams receiving votes. The Tigers, now 7-3 overall, dropped from the rankings after a loss to Northeastern State at home on Sunday.

Northeastern State jumped into the Top 25 after receiving votes last week. The RiverHawks (6-4 overall) collected wins over ranked teams in each of the last two weeks to return to the Top 25 at No. 24 this week. Upper Iowa is the top ranked team from the MIAA, sitting at No. 14, while Lindenwood joins FHSU in the list of teams receiving votes, so four of the five schools in the MIAA are referenced in the poll.

Fort Hays State has a challenging week ahead as they go on the road to 14th-ranked Upper Iowa, then Lindenwood over the weekend. FHSU is just a half game back of the conference lead, all shared by Upper Iowa, Northeastern State, and Lindenwood at 2-1. FHSU is 1-1 in conference play so far.
