Fort Hays State University is ready for homecoming week! There are many events going on throughout the week to include students and alumni. It all starts Monday, October 7 and goes through Saturday, October 12, so get out and enjoy all of the homecoming festivities!
To start off the week on Monday, the homecoming candidates will be doing a meet and greet on the Memorial Union patio from 12 to 1pm. If you would like to meet and get a picture with the candidates, join them and enjoy the UAB Musician as well.
On Tuesday there will be a UAB homecoming carnival for all of the students to relax and play some carnival games. This will be in the quad and start at 5 p.m. On Wednesday, the Student Organizations are holding a Rally Night that will start at 8 p.m.
On Thursday the Tiger Alumni will be having a golf tournament at Smoky Hill Country Club starting at 8 a.m. Head football coach Chris Brown will be having lunch with the alumni at the Country Club from noon to one. That night the Tiger Bonfire and pep rally will be held on the east lawn of the Robbins Center starting at 7:30 p.m.
Friday has many events starting with the homecoming registration, which lasts all day from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Memorial Union. The new art building will be having a ribbon-cutting and open house starting at 9 a.m. Several classes will be having reunions and recognitions throughout the day as well.
There will be a campus walking tour on Friday starting at 2 p.m. in Memorial Union. An Alumni and Friends Awards Banquet will be held at Memorial Union starting at 6 p.m.
Oktoberfest is also going on Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Frontier Park.
Saturday morning will be the last day for homecoming registration from 8 a.m. to noon. There will be an Alumni 5K walk/run and a virtual 5K walk/run starting at 7:30 a.m. Several reunion breakfasts will be held throughout the morning as well.
The homecoming parade will start at 11 a.m. on Main Street. The Tiger Tailgate will be on the east side of the Lewis Field Stadium from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. FHSU Football will be playing against Emporia State University starting at 7 p.m. with pregame ceremonies starting at 6 p.m.
