FHSU Men’s Basketball Faces UNK in NCAA Tournament Saturday

The Fort Hays State University Men’s Basketball  will be kicking off the NCAA Division II Tournament this Saturday, competing against longtime rivals Nebraska-Kearney. The game will start at 8:00 p.m. at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The 5th seed Tigers will be facing the 4th seed Lopers, with coverage being available to fans through webstream, radio coverage, and live stats. All outlets are available for use free of charge.

The tournament is being put on by Augustana University for the second season in a row and features three nationally ranked teams: Augustana at No.2, Minnesota State-Moorehead at No.10, and Northwest Missouri State at No.11.

The last appearance the Men’s Tiger Basketball team made at the NCAA Tournament was during the 2013-2014 season under current head basketball coach Mark Johnson. Coach Johnson has spent 15 years with the Tigers, leading them to seven tournament appearances.

FHSU and UNK split the regular season series with FHSU winning in Hays and UNK winning in Kearney. Fort Hays is entering the tournament with a record of 20-10, while UNK is entering with a record of 20-11.

Students, faculty, and members of the Hays community are invited to send off the FHSU Men’s Basketball team on today at 1:00 p.m. by Gate 2 in Gross Memorial Coliseum.
