McPherson Snaps FHSU’s Six Match Win Streak

McPHERSON, Kan. – Fort Hays State Tennis saw its six-match win streak come to an end on Wednesday (Mar. 9) in an 8-1 loss at McPherson College. The Tigers moved to 6-4 overall on the season with the loss. The only point for the Tigers came in singles play.

Laura Jimenez-Lendinez provided the only point for FHSU in singles action at the No. 1 position. She defeated Nikki Vorhees in three sets, winning the first by tiebreak and then taking the decisive set 10-4. The Tigers fell in straight sets in all other singles matches.

Doubles competition was close, but McPherson prevailed in all three matches. At No. 1, Jimenez-Lendinez and Jessica Johnson fell 8-5. At the No. 2 position, Taylor Noel and Haley Weidemann fell 8-6. At No. 3, Raven Dick and Alina Villalovos fell 9-7.

The Tigers will play an exhibition match against Barton Community College on Friday at 3 pm in Ellinwood, Kan.
