JOHNSON, Kan. – The FHSU women’s cross country team put together a good performance in the Border Challenge in Johnson, Kan., on Friday (Sept. 11). The Tigers took second place overall and the top five runners finished one after another in fourth through eighth place individually.
Leading the way for the Tigers was freshman Sophie Dalmasso, who took fourth overall with a time of 14:33.4 on the 5K course. Dalmasso was followed by teammates Micki Krzesinski (fifth in 14:44.1), Chelsea Jackson (sixth in 14:49.7), Amanda Morgan (seventh in 14:55.5), and Shea Bonine (eighth in 15:03.8).
CSU-Pueblo won the event with the top three runners before Fort Hays State’s run of five straight finishers. The Thunderwolves scored 26 points, while the Tigers had 30. West Texas A&M finished third and New Mexico Highlands was fourth.
The Tigers look ahead to September 26th when they head to Stillwater, Okla. where they will be competing in the Cowboy Jamboree.
