The Fort Hays State women’s golf team was picked eighth in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll, released on Wednesday (Aug. 26).
The Tigers are looking to improve this season after finishing eighth at the MIAA Championships last season. The 2015-16 Tigers have two returning golfers (Quillen Eichhorn and Hadley Tharp) from last year and picked up six newcomers to hit the links this season.
Head coach Rich Guffey expects there to be a lot of competition for who earns the right to play in tournaments on a week-to-week basis with all the new faces on the squad.
The Tigers open their 2015-16 season on September 8-9 at the Central Region Preview in Olathe, Kan., hosted by Southwestern Oklahoma State.
