The Southeast of Saline Madrigal Singers, under the direction of Ceri Boley will make their first appearance at the Cathedral Concert alongside the FHSU Choirs and returning guests.

“I’m really excited about this year, because the lessons and carols tradition from England is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time,” said Terry Crull, instructor of the FHSU choirs. “I’m very excited about the program and all of the performances.”

The 9 lessons and carols is an English Christmas Eve sermon based on teachings from both the Old and New Testament. The tradition is still practiced today in England. Most notably at the Kings College Chapel in Cambridge.

The reading of the 9 lessons will be presented by, President Mirta Martin, Provost Chris Crawford, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences Paul Faber, Chair of the Department of Music & Theatre Benjamin Cline, and the directors of the choirs.

“We are expecting a full house for the Concert, so those who wish to choose their seating should show up early,” Crull said.
