The Student Government Association met for its first meeting of the year on Thursday.
In the Executive Reports, President Marcell Delly welcomed everyone to the first meeting.
“We are really excited for having you here, and I hope you will quickly see that this is a place where your ideas and your voice genuinely matter,” he said.
Treasurer Caden Becker reminded the student organizations about Bill No. 26.S.154:
The Student Government Association shall not pass more than three line-item change bills per year at the request of a single entity. Additionally, should a line-item change bill be rejected by the Senate floor, it shall not be brought into consideration for voting in the current form for the rest of the academic year.
Nine new members were installed to represent their respective colleges.
In New Business, two bills were up for first reading.
Bill 26.F. 100 proposed nominees for the 2026-2027 SGA Executive Staff: Caden Becker, treasurer; Mayan Paz, legislative affairs director; Anna Briggs Shubert, public relations director; and Danika Szopinski, campus relations director.
Bill 26.F.101 requested AIGA change a line item stating that $1,800 be moved from “Visiting Artist Speaker Fees 3” to $600 for the line item “Adobe Max Conference Registration” and $1,200 for the line item “Adobe Max Conference Hotel.”
Announcements
- SGA wants to know who is being affected by the absence of Access Transportation and Tiger Transportation. Those who are negatively affected are asked to speak with either an SGA senator or an SGA executive staff member.
- Men’s Wrestling is doing its annual fundraiser. There is a trap shoot and cornhole. $100 per shooter and $400 per team. Talk to a men’s wrestler if you want to participate or sponsor the event on September 26.
SGA will reconvene at 7 am next Thursday.
