Online Student Government Association (OSGA) met on Saturday to discuss upcoming events.

“It’s a big spring,” OSGA President Eileen Moore said. “We’ve got a lot to do, all hands on deck.”

At 9 a.m. CST on Saturday, the group will host an online Coffee Talk.

“Just hoping online students log on, just to chat, meet somebody, connect and not feel so isolated,” Moore said.

Then, at 5:30 p.m. CST on February 12, the group will host a TigerTalk about International Student Services. Director of Global Affairs Haley Williams will be the guest speaker.

OSGA will host its second Town Hall event to create an open dialogue between professors and online students. This will take place sometime this spring.

“Last year was really successful,” Moore said. “We got six or eight faculty members who had questions for online students and then we recruited the full population of online students to submit one question that they would like to ask.”

OSGA recently published the second edition of the FHSU Online Newsletter.

Moore said views are up from the last edition, but encouraged members to continue to promote the publication.

“If you’re speaking to a classmate, or you know, ask your instructor if you could include it in a discussion board or something like that,” Moore said.

OSGA is also in the preliminary stages of planning the annual online student survey.

“Be thinking of things that you’ve dealt with that maybe others have dealt with,” Vice President Johnathon Ornelas said.

The survey results help drive future OSGA initiatives by identifying areas for improvement for online learners.

The next OSGA meeting will be at 11 a.m. CST on February 21 on Google Meet. All are welcome to attend.
