On Thursday, FHSU Dean of Library Services Ginger Williams updated the senate on the soft opening of Tebo Library, what’s in the library, and what’s to come.
“They started talking about the fact that the library needed to be renovated, and then really got down to planning in about 2021-22,” she said.
When talking to the students at the time, they wanted higher ceilings, more study spaces, book displays as you walk in, natural light, and a more welcoming atmosphere.
The Tebo library was under construction for around 1.5 years and had its soft opening on Tuesday. There are a number of small things that still need to be done, including returning books to the shelves. This is set to begin on Monday.
With the renovations, there are now more individual and group study rooms, a space for student organizations to meet, a video room, an audio room, a computer lab, and the Roar & Pour Cafe, among many other things.
“By the end of the semester, we will have finished the library, we hope your home away from home”, Williams said.
