Director of Student Engagement Brett Meyers spoke to the Student Government Association on Thursday about updates within Student Engagement.
He emphasized the importance of risk-taking, creativity, and collaboration in creating a vibrant campus culture.
“Our job is to help students have fun and enjoy college life,” Meyers said. “We want to partner with organizations and the student government to make events big, meaningful, and service-oriented.”
Meyers highlighted upcoming opportunities such as service initiatives, weekly volunteer events, leadership trainings, and large-scale campus activities. He encouraged students to reach out with ideas and reminded SGA that Student Engagement is always available to collaborate.
SGA Vice President Brenna Schwien spoke to the Senate about an opportunity to celebrate Constitution Day. This can be done by signing up online.
The Senate then installed seven new members, who formally pledged their responsibilities as senators.
In New Business, one bill was read: Bill 25S-101, which reassigned Sen. Elyssa Rucker to represent the Werth College of Science, Technology, and Mathematics after a change in academic major. This will be up for a vote next week.
In Old Business, one bill was voted on: Bill 25F-100, which confirmed executive staff appointments for the 2025–2026 academic year, including Treasurer Caden Becker, Legislative Affairs Director Grace McCord, Public Relations Director Madison Albers, and Campus Relations Director Star Parham. The bill passed with Senate approval.
SGA will reconvene at 7 p.m. next Thursday.
