The Ellis County Historical Society will host its third annual Twist and Shout Trivia Night fundraiser this weekend. The event — which features snacks, games and prizes — will be from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday at 121 E. Eighth in Hays.
The trivia will feature nine categories divided into three rounds and teams of eight members.
“Each team answers the questions separately for points,” said Amanda Rupp, executive director of the historical society. “The team with the most points overall is the ‘smartest people in Ellis County’ for the year. They get T-shirts that say so and a traveling trophy with some other prizes.”
Each category will have a prize related to a theme, and prizes will be given for best team name and spirit.
“We have pretty cool names,” Rupp said. “Some teams dress up in themes and decorate their table.”
There will be physical challenges for extra points, mulligans if the answer to a question is unknown and chances to double a team’s round total.
Rupp wants the night to be joyous for all attending.
“We don’t want anyone taking anything too seriously,” she said. “The goal is to have fun and raise money (for the museum). Most of all, the community members here will get together for something new.”
