Since 1902, Fort Hays State University has been a leader in higher education on the High Plains of western Kansas. Each year, thousands of students come to Hays to attend classes for many different reasons. I’m excited to welcome Fort Hays Tech | Northwest and Fort Hays Tech | North Central, to Tiger Nation. This groundbreaking partnership not only strengthens our community but also expands reach, paving the way for a bright future filled with innovative opportunities and collaborative growth. 
FHSU’s team spirit is truly unmatched. It’s always a joy to see our students rallying together at various sporting events, cheering on our teams. The support and camaraderie among our students create an incredible atmosphere that embodies the spirit of Tiger Nation 
Student organizations make FHSU such a remarkable community. I am inspired by our students’ achievements and their adventurous spirit in trying new things. These experiences not only foster a sense of community but also play a crucial role in their personal and academic success, creating an environment where everyone feels valued and empowered to thrive. 
Welcome to the FHSU campus. This celebration is a fantastic way to greet our freshmen as they step into the Quad. I’m thrilled to see our faculty and staff come together, each welcoming our new Tigers with enthusiastic signs and pom poms. Their warm smiles and spirited cheers truly convey how excited we are to have them here, fostering a sense of belonging from Day 1. 
The Back-to-School picnic is an absolute blast. With over 1,000 students in attendance, it’s an incredible opportunity for everyone to enjoy free giveaways while discovering all the exciting activities and resources available on campus and in the Hays community. A perfect way to kick-off the school year. 
Move-in days are a fantastic opportunity to connect with students and their families as we warmly welcome them to our campus community. Families are often amazed by the incredible support from our student organizations, faculty and staff, all coming together to ensure a smooth and successful transition. This collective effort not only makes the day memorable but also helps new students feel right at home from the very start. 
I absolutely cherish commencement. It’s a powerful celebration where our students reflect on their remarkable achievements and eagerly embrace the future that lies ahead. This moment is filled with pride, joy and anticipation as they take their next steps into the world with confidence and purpose. It is our mission in action.
