WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The 14th-ranked Fort Hays State Men’s Soccer team played to a 2-2 draw with Eastern New Mexico on Saturday (Sept. 21). Bryce Dickerson and Dimitry Tchantcheu each netted a goal for the Tigers in a neutral site contest that saw the Tigers outshoot the Greyhounds 18-6.

Just 60 seconds into the match Dickerson found the back of the net with a header off a free kick from Tadhg Walsh, giving the Tigers an early 1-0 lead. However, Eastern New Mexico responded with a long shot from Nick Huenig about four minutes later with the Tiger keeper out of position. The Greyhounds took the upper hand in the 20th minute when Ben Sauerlander took advantage of a misplayed ball by the Tiger defense.

Fort Hays State came out firing in the second half. Just over five minutes after the break, Dimitry Tchantcheuheaded home a pinpoint cross from Walsh to get the equalizer. Fort Hays outshot Eastern New Mexico 13-0 in the second half, but unfortunately had to settle for the draw.

Mathis Lefevre recorded one save for the Tigers in goal in relief of Jorge Valentin, while Greyhounds keeper Catalin Nastuta finished with three saves.

With the result, Fort Hays State moved to 3-1-1 on the season. The Tigers shift their focus to the first conference test of the year, a match against reigning Great American Conference champions Southern Nazarene on Saturday (Sept. 28) in Bethany, Okla.
