Tigers win nine events at UNK

The Fort Hays State track and field team compiled nine first-place finishes and a provisional mark Friday (Jan. 26) during the Charlie Foster Classic in Kearney, Neb. 

In the Men’s 60m hurdles prelims, Ethan Salmansclaimed a solid third-place finish with an impressive time of 8.48. Following closely behind, Nolan Churchman secured the eighth spot with a time of 8.70. The women’s 60m hurdles prelims witnessed stellar performances from Taylor Savolt, who secured the second position with a time of 8.98, and Maggie Remsberg, earning the third spot with a time of 9.23. Hadley WilliamsKylin Rudzik, and Ellie Dusselier also displayed commendable efforts, securing the seventh, eighth, and tenth positions.

In the men’s 60m prelims, Hayden Albright asserted his dominance by securing the first position with an outstanding time of 6.88. Avrey AlbrightEddie McVayToby Wahlmeier, and Kenny Fritsch also contributed to the team’s success by securing notable positions in the preliminary rounds. The Albright brothers then stole the spotlight in the men’s 60m finals, with Hayden Albrightsecuring the first position (6.90) and Avrey Albrightfollowing closely in second place (6.99).

Tori Poe and Kinley Brown showcased their speed and agility in the women’s 60m prelims, securing the third and fourth positions with times of 9.92 and 7.93. Reba MaderTaylor Savolt, and Donna Jackson also made valuable contributions by securing positions in the top ten. In the women’s 60m hurdles finals, Taylor Savoltand Maggie Remsberg continued their impressive performances, securing the second and third positions with times of 9.07 and 9.16. Tori Poe led the charge in the women’s 60m finals, securing the second position with a time of 7.91.

Hayden Albright showcased his versatility, securing the second position in the men’s 400m with a time of 49.64. In the women’s 400m, Kinley Brown impressed with a second-place finish (1:00.24). Reba Madersecured the first position in the women’s 600y with a time of 1:29.43 while Ethan Lang dominated the men’s 800m, securing the first position as well with a remarkable time of 1:51.82. In the men’s 600y, Nathaniel Hubbard showcased his prowess, securing the top position with a time of 1:16.95. Jaret PfizenmaierNoah Morenz, and Daniel Bechle also delivered strong performances in the men’s 1 mile.

The field events showcased exceptional talent, with Donna Jackson leading the women’s long jump with a distance of 17-10.25. Carter Cellmer, Jace Wentling, and Brady Deges excelled in the men’s long jump and pole vault events, securing top positions. Liberty Booker made her mark in the women’s weight throw, securing the seventh position with a distance of 47-10 feet. In the women’s shot put, Booker secured the fifth position. Nathaniel HubbardNolan Churchman, and Luke Hampl also delivered commendable performances in the men’s shot put.

Fort Hays State University’s relay teams displayed exemplary teamwork, with the men’s 4x400m relay securing first place with Hayden AlbrightAvrey AlbrightTrever Medina and Ethan Lang. The women secured the third position with Reba MaderKinley BrownAmelia Foster and Tori Poe

The Fort Hays State Track and Field teams will travel to Topeka next weekend for the Washburn Open and Multis and then will head east to Boston, Mass. for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
