As the calendar moves further into July, summer is quickly passing by. Although the summer is beginning to wrap up, there are still plenty of fun activities the Hays Public Library is packing into the last few weeks of its summer programs.
This week’s featured event is the ‘Kids in the Kitchen: Fruit and Cracker Pizzas’ that will take place from 2-3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Hays Public Library in the Upper-Level Commons Area.
Chianti Madkins, a public service coordinator at HPL who specializes in Youth events, explains this is a new event to the HPL’s activity calendar.
“We just started Kids in the Kitchen this summer, and will continue to have the program every second Wednesday of every month in the fall,” Madkins said.
As always, community members of all ages are welcome to attend the demonstration, but Madkins believes elementary-aged children will most benefit from this activity and notes that the presentation is free to all.
“The Kids in the Kitchen program is completely free and all materials will be provided to attendees,” she said.
As this Wednesday will be the first snack of the program, Madkins has high hopes for the future benefits that the program will provide to its guests.
“We hope to help build kids’ confidence in the kitchen with simple snacks that they can make independently,” she said.
