Men’s golf 16th at Broncho Invite

EDMOND, Okla. – Fort Hays State Men’s Golf placed 16th at the Broncho Invitational, one of four MIAA designated events for the 2022-23 season held at Rose Creek Country Club. Jackson Rader was the only Tiger to shoot in the 70s all three rounds, tying for 40th individually. The Tigers were ninth among the MIAA teams competing in the tournament.

Fort Hays State as a team shot rounds of 322, 327, and 325 for a 974 total. Central Oklahoma won the event at +30 as a team, shooting 289, 305, and 300. Northeastern State was two strokes back in second place, while Washburn was the next MIAA team in the standings at fifth overall with a +49 total.

Jackson Rader carded rounds of 77, 79, and 78 to lead the Tigers. He had six birdies for the tournament. He tied four other golfers at +18 for the tournament at the par-72 venue. Tanner Copeland was next in the individual standings for the Tigers, tying for 62nd at +23. He had rounds of 75, 81, and 83. He had seven birdies for the tournament, including three in his 3-over par first round.

Parker Krob shot back-to-back rounds of 83 before an 81 to close out his tournament. He finished 80th and had four birdies for the tournament. Jacob George finished 84th with rounds of 87, 84, and 83, carding two birdies in the tournament. August Nilsson shot rounds of 90, 86, and 86 to finish in 88th. His lone birdie was in the final round.

Bennett Baldwin of Central Oklahoma won the tournament at +3 overall with rounds of 69, 76, and 74.

The Tigers return to action next week in Blue Springs, Mo. (Mar. 27-28) at the NSIC Conference Preview Invitational.
