Lee, North lead FHSU women’s golf

MARYVILLE, Mo. – Fort Hays State Women’s Golf finished 12th as a team at the Midwest Fall Classic hosted by Northwest Missouri State University at Mozingo Lake Golf Course in Maryville, Mo. (Oct. 17-18). Shauna Lee and Aliyah North led the Tigers, tying for 22nd individually with totals of 166.

Lee posted the best round of any Tiger for the week with a 5-over par 77 on day two of the tournament. She had two birdies in the tournament and had one of the tournament’s four eagles, carding a three on a 462-yard par five on the second day. She improved 12 strokes in the second round after an 89 to start the tournament.

North posted rounds of 85 and 81 to reach her total of 166. She had the most birdies of any Tiger for the week with three.

Morgan Brasser tied for 37th with rounds of 85 and 86. She had two birdies for the tournament, both occurring in the second round. Kerrigan Rudolph tied for 82nd with rounds of 93 and 94, while Ella McKee tied for 96th with rounds of 100 and 99 and posted one birdie for the tournament.

The Tigers shot a two-round total of 690 as a team. They improved 14 strokes as a team in the second round, posting totals of 352 and 338.

Augustana won the tournament with a total of 634. Central Missouri was second at 648 and Nebraska-Kearney was third at 656. All three teams are in the Golfstat national rankings. Allison Comer of Nebraska-Kearney and Molly Stevens of Augustana tied for first place individually, both at 9-over par overall (153 total).

The FHSU Women will wrap their fall schedule up next week at the Tulsa Cup in Tulsa, Okla. The tournament will take place at The Club at Forest Ridge.
