RCOBE set to host inaugural Business Organization Night

The Robbins College of Business and Entrepreneurship is preparing to host its first-ever Business Organization Night on Tuesday. The event is open to all students, but particularly those who are interested in being involved in RCOBE on-campus organizations.

David Schulte, one of the Robins College of Business and Entrepreneurship Student Ambassadors said the RCOBE Business Night will be a chance for students at FHSU to see what opportunities each organization within the college can present.

“In addition to the four departments that will be in attendance, there will also be professional fraternities, major clubs, and other professional development groups,” Schulte said. “These organizations provide endless possibilities for networking, travel, research, and camaraderie.”

Schulte said the goal of the event is to help grow the organizations’ numbers that have struggled to recruit new numbers post-COVID.

“We hope to highlight the opportunities that are available to students by joining these organizations that they may not have been aware of previously,” he said.

Similar to Schulte’s hopes for the night, Dean of the Robbins College of Business and Entrepreneurship Muhammad Chishty is also looking to shed some light on the multiple organizations tied to RCOBE.

“Students on campus will have the chance to learn about the many RCOBE student organizations and groups that will help them connect with professionals and opportunities in those disciplines,” Chishty said. “This is the start of a networking process which will benefit them throughout their careers and in their professional lives.”

Chishty continues by honing in on the importance of being involved as a student.

“Involvement with peers in the many organizations and opportunities available at Fort Hays will help our students settle in and consider this to be a home away from home,” he said. “It is important to build strong relationships that will support them in their personal and academic pursuits on campus, and make them part of the Tiger Nation.”

Schulte adds to Chishty’s sentiment with his own personal experience saying being involved on campus outside of the classroom has been beneficial to him.

“Personally, I have grown relationships with professors and fellow students through my involvement with these groups in many different ways including, but not limited to, trips together and research projects,” Schulte said. “Moreover, involvement in these organizations can supplement on-campus education, provide professional development resources, offer exclusive networking connections, and above all, create life-long friendships with your peers.”

As for the future of RCOBE Business Organization Night, Chishty views this as a recurring event for the college and is hopeful it will return every year.

“This is a good way to market RCOBE organizations and offerings to all students on campus,” he said. “After all, our goal at FHSU is to provide an engaging educational environment that will nurture students’ skills and talents and prepare them to lead successful, productive and meaningful lives.”

The RCOBE Business Organization Night will take place from 6-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6 on the first floor of McCartney Hall.
