Writing Tigers program celebrates excellence

By UNIVERSITY COMMUNICATIONS

The Fort Hays State University Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) committee hosted an inaugural Writing Tigers recognition ceremony on May 3.

The event was established to expand the culture of writing across the FHSU campus.

“It was George Orwell who said, ‘If people cannot write well, they cannot think well, and if they cannot think well, others will do their thinking for them,’ ” said Cheryl Duffy, professor of English and chair of the WAC committee,

More than 70 students were recognized for excellence in a wide range of applications ranging from business analysis to academic research, to writing in Spanish. They represented 12 academic departments and all five of the university’s colleges, along with students in the university’s China partnership program and students working in Forsyth Library.

The awardees received a commemorative writing journal embossed with the Writing Tigers logo.
