Stanley earns another weekly MIAA honor

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State junior pole vaulter Ryan Stanley has been named MIAA Field Athlete of the Week for a second week in a row, announced Tuesday (Feb. 8) by the league office.

The defending outdoor national champion broke his own school record at Saturday’s Herm Wilson Invitational in Wichita, Kan. (Feb. 5), clearing the 17-1.75 bar. Stanley now sits alone in first place on the NCAA Division II performance chart, breaking a tie with a Central Missouri athlete.

After clearing the 16-6 bar to clinch first place, his fourth title of the season, Stanley lifted the bar nearly eight inches to try and break his personal best. The Bennington, Kan. native did just that on his third and final attempt when he cleared a bar over 17 feet for the second time this season.
