Fuller, Starks earn CoSIDA honors

By FHSU SPORTS INFORMATION

CoSIDA named Fort Hays State football student-athletes Chance Fuller and Jordan Starks to the Academic All-District Football Team for the 2021 season on Thursday (Nov. 18). Fuller is the lone representative at quarterback in Super Region 3, while Starks is one of six defensive backs named to the team. Fuller receives the honor for a second-straight year, while Starks receives the distinction for a third-straight year. Sports Information and Athletic Communication professionals within Super Region 3 vote on the Academic All-District Team, which honors a combination of academic and athletic accomplishments of the individuals selected.

Fuller, native of Arlington, Texas, holds a 3.73 GPA as a Health and Human Performance major, while Starks, native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, has a 3.53 GPA as a Finance major. Both will receive MIAA Scholar-Athlete honors for a second straight season (2019 and 2021) by earning All-MIAA honors on the field and holding GPAs of at least 3.5. Also, both are five-time members of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

Fuller received All-MIAA Second Team honors for the second straight season in 2021. He finished with 3,038 passing yards on 230 completions with 22 touchdowns. He also notched a pair of rushing touchdowns for the season as well. He now has 7,567 passing yards in his career, which ranks second on the all-time list at FHSU just 115 yards shy of the record, and ranks first all-time in passing touchdowns with 64. Fuller was an All-MIAA Second Team and All-Super Region 3 Third Team selection at quarterback in 2019, a year that saw him break the FHSU single-season record for passing touchdowns with 35 and throw for 3,344 yards.

Starks was an All-MIAA Second Team selection at defensive back this season after receiving Third Team honors in 2019. He finished fourth on the team in tackles this season with 57, while leading the team in interceptions with two. He tied for the team lead in pass breakups with six. Overall in three seasons on the field, Starks has 151 tackles, six interceptions, nine pass breakups, and three fumble recoveries.

As All-District selections, Fuller and Starks will now be considered for Academic All-America honors to be voted on by Sports Information/Athletic Communication professionals nationwide in NCAA Division II.
