Hays hosts Walk to end Alzheimer’s

BY REBEKAH REED

It was a perfect Saturday morning on October 30th for the 2021 Hays Walk for Alzheimer’s. The walk was located at Municipal Park near Fort Hays State University.

Walking took place from 9-11 a.m. Participants were given a flower pinwheel with a color corresponding to their reason for walking. Hays had participants who walked to honor someone they had lost to Alzheimer’s (purple) and for those they are caring for who currently have Alzheimer’s (yellow). Everyone out there was supporting the fight for a world without Alzheimer’s (orange).

“We were so happy to have students from FHSU volunteer this year and look forward to having them back next year,” Program Specialist Denise Vann said.

Sponsor NEX-TECH and the Clinkscale Law team with Santa and his Dinosaur showed up to support the cause. This year, there were 26 teams with 50 walkers. As of now, about $7,000 has been raised for the fight to end Alzheimer’s. However, donations are accepted until December 31. You can visit act.alz.org/hays to donate.
