Men’s soccer draws with No. 25 Hillcats

The Fort Hays State Men’s Soccer team played to a scoreless draw with No. 25 ranked Rogers State on Thursday (Oct. 21) night. Both teams had ample scoring opportunities, but were never able to find the net. The Tigers are now 8-4-2 and the Hillcats are 9-3-2, while both teams remain tied at 5-2-1 in the conference.

The two teams each took 13 shots and put six on target. Both keepers also recorded six saves. This match was a well-fought battle for both teams as they drew 23 total fouls and two yellow cards each. Rogers State set up for ten corner kicks compared to only three for Fort Hays State. Ouachita Baptist pulled out a 2-1 upset of Southern Nazarene, which leaves the Tigers and the Hillcats just two points out of first place in the conference. SNU is now 6-2 in GAC play. The Tigers have four games remaining on their regular season schedule, which includes a meeting with Southern Nazarene in Hays.

The Tigers will travel to Arkansas next week as they take on Ouachita Baptist on Thursday (Oct. 28) with kickoff scheduled for 3 p.m. and then turn around and play at Harding on Saturday (Oct. 30) at 1 p.m.
