Tigers finish homestand 0-2

The Fort Hays State women’s soccer team competed against Missouri Western on Friday for the first of two weekend home matches. The Tigers fell 1-0 from a lone goal from MWSU in the 57th minute.

The Tigers played again on Sunday against the Bearcats of Northwest Missouri. FHSU came out flat against the Bearcast, missing their passes to teammates and not going after 1st and 2nd touches. Fort Hays and NWMSU went into halftime 0-0.

Coming of the Halftime the Bearcats structure looked to be more defensive as they “Parked the Bus” against the Tigers. The Tigers struggled to get anything close to the net other than the advantages and corners.

The Tigers and Bearcats finished the end of regulation with no score. In the 115th min the Bearcats forced a crucial turnover in striking range of the goal. Kaylie Rock crossed the ball into the feet of Alex Maubach to find the lower-left corner of the net giving the Bearcats another victory on the year.

Fort Hays suffered two tough losses in two days and looked to rebound on a five-game road stand. The Tigers are now 4-5-3 on the season and next travel to Warrensburg, Mo. to take on the Jennies of Central Missouri.
