Nelson names MIAA pitcher of week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State senior Michaelanne Nelson was named the MIAA Softball Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday (Feb. 23). She joins Chloe Bohuslavicky from Northeastern State, who was named Hitter of the Week. Nelson posted a 1.83 ERA in three appearances at the Edmond Regional Festival, which included a complete game win over Southern Nazarene.

Nelson received the winning decision in Fort Hays State’s lone win of the weekend, allowing just one earned run in a 3-2 win over Southern Nazarene. She scattered five hits and walked two, while striking out four in the complete game effort. She took a tough-luck loss in 4.2 innings of relief against East Central, allowing just three hits and a walk with eight strikeouts. She also threw 3.2 innings against No. 12 ranked Oklahoma Christian.

Nelson holds a 2.51 ERA for the season so far with 19 strikeouts in 22.1 innings of work.
