Men’s track and field posts strong marks in Pittsburg

PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Fort Hays State men’s track and field team picked up another provisional performance and nearly had several others at the 5th Annual Gorilla Classic this weekend (Feb. 14-15).

Ryan Stanley cleared the provisional mark in the pole vault for the sixth time this season, placing fifth after clearing the 16-6.75 bar.

Malcom Gardner completed the 200m dash in 21.74, good for eighth place in the 74-man field. His time was just .05 seconds off the provisional pace.

Caleb Carrasco narrowly missed out on a provisional performance in the mile run, finishing second in the race with a time of 4:11.47, just .23 shy of the provisional mark.

Trever Medina placed 13th in the 600y run with a time of 1:13.82, two seconds shy of the program record.

Aaron Mangan completed the 800m run in 1:55.53, less than three seconds off the provisional pace.

The Tigers will head to Lincoln, Neb. for the Nebraska Tune-Up next Friday (Feb. 21) for their final meet before heading into the postseason with the MIAA Championships at the end of the month.
