Hays craft and art studio “The Niche” hosts back-to-school workshop

BY ALEX JUAREZ

On Friday, January 24 The Niche hosted an FHSU Craft Workshop where students could invite friends and family to a fun craft night in Downtown Hays. The workshop was a step-by-step class or an open studio time where attendees got to decorate different types of artwork, from canvas paintings, to wood signs, custom vinyl, string art and more.

The design was up to eight different FHSU themed craft projects and could be customized with their own color scheme. Emily Weigel, who is the owner of The Niche, encouraged students to use templates and vinyl decals, which beginners can craft in their own homes.

Weigel is more known to the arts and craft of helping students to experience art in their own way.

“I like to do these events for the students because I would have loved something like this back when I was in college,” she said.

Weigel is an FHSU Alumni and had graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and opened the studio in Hays in 2017. If you would like to know more about The Niche, visit The Niche’s Facebook page for class schedule and open studio hours.
