Fort Hays State Men’s Basketball looks to get on track at home on Wednesday when it hosts Emporia State at 7:30 pm. The Tigers (6-8, 0-6 MIAA) are looking to snap a four-game losing skid and pick up their first win in MIAA play this season. Emporia State brings in a record of 9-5 overall and 3-2 in the MIAA.

The Tigers are looking for a split in the season series with Emporia State after falling 69-66 in Emporia back in December. The Hornets are the only MIAA opponent the Tigers have held to less than 50 percent shooting from the field this season. ESU shot 43.1 percent from the field in the first meeting, which is the lowest shot by an MIAA opponent of the Tigers this year. FHSU held opponents to 40 percent or less from the field in all six wins so far this year.

Aaron Nicholson averaged a team-best 15 points per game in the two road contests for the Tigers last week in Oklahoma. His performance helped up his season average to 9.4 per game, the only starter not averaging double figures for the season. Jared Vitztum still leads in scoring overall at 12.1 points per contest. Nyjee Wright led the Tigers in the first meeting with Emporia State this year, scoring 19 points.

Emporia State is coming off a conference win at home against Missouri Western back on Saturday. Prior to that, the Hornets took a pair of conference losses to Washburn and Northwest Missouri State. The Hornets have three players that average double figures in scoring, led by Jumah’Ri Turner at 15.7 points per game.
