Baseball signs five future Tigers

Fort Hays State head baseball coach Jerod Goodale has announced five signees that will join the team in the fall of 2020. The class includes players from three states, four freshmen and one transfer.

Dylan Hupfer | Infielder/Outfielder | Fort Collins, Colo. (Rocky Mountain HS)
Dylan Hupfer is a utility player from Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins, Colo. He was a second team all-conference performer as a junior in 2019, helping the Lobos to the Colorado Class 5A state tournament after earning a regional championship. Hupfer recorded a .545 on-base percentage during his junior season. He was selected to play in the futures game and all-star game after his 2019 season.
Conner Kessler | Infielder/Right-Handed Pitcher | Peyton, Colo. (Dodge City CC)
Conner Kessler is a junior transfer from Dodge City Community College. He appeared in 50 games as a freshman with the Conquistadors, 38 in the field and 12 on the mound. The Peyton, Colo. native made 26 starts in the field and three at pitcher. Kessler posted a slash line of .280/.333/.390, totaling five extra-base hits, 16 RBI, 17 runs and three stolen bases. On the mound, Kessler struck out 19 batters in 17.2 innings of work, averaging 9.7 strikeouts per nine innings. He was a four-time letterwinner in baseball at Falcon High School, earning multiple all-conference honors.
Brady Kreutzer | Infielder | Hays, Kan. (Thomas More Prep-Marian HS)
Hays native Brady Kreutzer will join the Tigers as a true freshman in the fall of 2020. The infielder has earned All-State honors twice during his time at Thomas More Prep-Marian High School, earning honorable mention honors as a sophomore in 2018 before picking up a spot on the first team as a junior in 2019. He recorded a .515 batting average as a junior, totaling 35 hits, 10 doubles, four triples and 35 RBI. Kreutzer is a three-sport athlete at TMP, also competing in soccer and basketball.
Dustin Menard | Left-handed Pitcher | New Iberia, La. (New Iberia Senior High)
Dustin Menard is one of two left-handed pitchers in this year’s signing class. He is coming off a solid junior campaign for New Iberia (La.) Senior High, averaging 11.3 strikeouts per nine innings in 59 innings of work. The lefty totaled five wins, an ERA of 3.81 and 74 strikeouts in 2019 to earn a spot on The Daily Iberian‘s Best of the Teche Baseball Team. His outing against Sam Houston HS as a sophomore was named the performance of the year.
Jayce Meyer | Left-handed Pitcher | Wichita, Kan. (Maize South HS)
The Tigers added another lefty arm to their arsenal in Jayce Meyer. A Wichita, Kan. native, Meyer is one of the top prospects in the state of Kansas, earning the No. 1 ranking in the LHP category and ranking 10th overall according to the Prep Baseball Report. He helped Maize South High School to its first-ever state championship in baseball as a freshman in 2017. Meyer was selected to play for the Midwest Region USA Team in 2017 and represented Kansas in the High Plains Shootout in 2019. Meyer struck out 25 batters in 21 innings as a junior in 2019, earning a 2-1 record alongside two saves and a 2.67 ERA. He also competed in cross country for the Mavericks, helping Maize South win the state title in 2016. He is cousins with FHSU track & field great Brett Meyer.
