Hirsch named to CoSIDA women’s soccer team

AUSTIN, Texas – CoSIDA named Fort Hays State Women’s Soccer senior Darby Hirsch to its Academic All-America Team on Wednesday (Dec. 4). Hirsch is one of nine forwards nationally in NCAA Division II to receive the honor. Sports Information and Athletic Communication professionals nationwide vote on the Academic All-America Team, which reflects both academic and athletic accomplishments of the individuals selected.

Hirsch owns a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average as a Nursing major at FHSU. She is a three-time recipient of the MIAA Academic Excellence Award for maintaining the perfect 4.0 GPA.

On the field, Hirsch is a two-time All-MIAA selection, receiving an honorable mention selection as a junior and second-team honors as a senior this year. Hirsch was the team leader in points this season with 15 by producing six goals and three assists. She tied for the team lead in goals and assists. Hirsch had 48 points throughout her career at FHSU with 15 goals and 18 assists, including eight game-winning goals, while logging over 4,000 minutes on the pitch.

By earning All-MIAA honors on the field once again this year, Hirsch also earned the MIAA Scholar-Athlete Award for a second straight year. The honor goes to individuals that have at least a 3.5 GPA and earn all-conference status.
